Pull the dryer away from the wall about a foot to begin cleaning your dryer vent. Use manually or attach end of cleaning rod to a power drill. To clean your dryer vent remove the outside cover on the vent and use a special lint brush with an extendable handle to clean the inside of the pipe. If you have a gas dryer turn the supply valve off while cleaning.

A gas leak is serious. Remove any clamps or metal tape so that you can pull the dryer vent pipe free from the exhaust. Use duct brush to clean dryer duct of lint. First unplug the machine s power cord from the wall outlet.

Most outside dryer vents have hinged slats or doors that are forced open when the dryer is running to allow moisture and lint to escape. If you own a dryer that runs on natural gas be extremely careful you don t disturb the dryer s gas line when disconnecting the power.
